The visit start by Maheswarnath Hindu Temple found in Triolet and was first built in 1819 and then the Sockalingum Meenatchee Tamil Temple at St Croix near Port Louis. We proceed to the capital Port Louis to visit the Jummah Mosque one among the oldest Mosque of Mauritius also known as the National Mosque.
Saint Louis Cathedral in Port Louis is among the oldest church in Mauritius. Built in 1814/15 and promoted to Cathedral in 1847, the church is the final works of Governor Sir Robert Farquar. The site of the church was however identified in the years 1750s sometimes after the departure of Mahe de La Bourdonnais, who had then selected another site for the construction of a place of worship for the inhabitants of Port Louis.
Eureka Colonial house
The house was built by Mr. Carr, a British notable who wanted to be nearer to 'Le Rduit' where the governor lived. We hence learn that a certain Recul sold the property "of spices and sugar canes" to Mr. Montmirail who left the French revolution in 1793. In 1812, Mr. et Mrs. Robinson bought the property and later sold it to Mr. Eugne Leclzio in 1856, father of Sir Eugne Leclzio, chief justice and Sir Henry Leclzio, attorney and member of the Legislative Assembly.
